American Heart Association Classes
Welcome to Kansas City First Aid. We are located in Overland Park, Kansas and specialize in teaching First Aid, CPR, and AED classes onsite throughout the Kansas City and surrounding area.

Thank you for choosing Kansas City First Aid!Healthcare Professional Courses (work in medical setting) BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Course The American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Course is designed to teach the skills of CPR for victims of all ages. Other skills include ventilation with a barrier device, a bag-mask device, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of a foreign-body airway obstruction. It is intended for participants who provide healthcare to patients in a wide variety of settings. Prerequisite: none. This course is right for you if you are a first time student taking this course for the first time or your certification has expired.
BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Online Renewal
The American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Online Renewal course is designed specifically for experienced healthcare providers who have prior CPR training and need recertification. The online course provides the opportunity to refresh skills and recertify without having to take the full content course in a traditional classroom. A brief Skills Test* in a classroom must also completed to receive a new completion card. Prerequisite: Current BLS for Healthcare Providers course completion card. *See BLS for Healthcare Providers Skills Test below. Skills Test for the BLS for Healthcare Providers CPR Online Renewal
The Skills Evaluation for the American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Online Renewal course involves hands-on scenarios in a classroom. Successful completion enables you to receive a new course completion card. Prerequisite: Completion of the BLS for Healthcare Providers Online Renewal and a current BLS for Healthcare Providers course completion card. This course is right for you if you want to renew your skills partly online and partly in a classroom.
ACLS Provider Course The American Heart Association ACLS Providers Course is designed for Healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the resuscitation of a patient. ACLS emphasizes the importance of basic life support CPR to patient survival; the integration of effective basic life support with advanced cardiovascular life support interventions; and the importance of effective team interaction and communication during resuscitation. Prerequisite: Successful completion of BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR Course. Workplace Courses (work in non-medical Settings)
The Heartsaver AED Course teaches the basic techniques of adult and child CPR and use of an automated external defibrillator (AED). The course also teaches how to recognize the signs of heart attack, stroke, cardiac arrest, and foreign-body airway obstruction. Infant CPR may be taught if students live or work in a setting where infants are present. This course provides certification to use a public access AED and satisfies the requirements for anyone who needs certification or recertification as part of an early access defibrillation program. The couse is modular, meaning there are two course options depending upon which modules you chose: Adult/Child or Adult/Child/Infant.
Heartsaver Adult First Aid The Heartsaver First Aid Course covers First Aid Basics, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, and Environmental Emergencies. The course teaches the lay rescuer the knowledge and psychomotor skills they need to recognize emergencies at the worksite and give first aid until the arrival of EMS. Heartsaver Adult First Aid with CPR and AED This American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid with CPR and AED Course was developed on the basis of evidence-based guidelines. It is a modular course that includes essential information and training in the first-aid skills recommended by OSHA and provides the skills to effectively assess and maintain life from the critical minutes immediately following an emergency, until the arrival of emergency medical services personnel. The course provides a complete health and safety training solution for first aid, adult and child CPR, and AED. Infant CPR may be taught if students live or work in a setting where infants are present. Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid Course covers First Aid Basics, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, and Environmental Emergencies. The course teaches the lay rescuer the knowledge and psychomotor skills they need to recognize emergencies at the worksite and give first aid. The course also includes: Asthma care training for childcare providers, Eye Injuries, Fever, Snake, Poisonous Spider, Scorpion, Tick, and Marine Animal Bites and Stings; Suspected Abuse.
Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid with CPR and AED The Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid with CPR and AED Course covers all of the Pediatric First Aid topics with the addition of adult and pediatric CPR, and the use of a public access defibrillator (AED). The comprehensive course teaches the rescuer the knowledge and psychomotor skills they need to recognize emergencies at the worksite and give first aid or CPR and use an AED.
Community Courses (Awareness course*) *Not a certification course Family & Friends CPR Anytime Self-Directed Course Family & Friends CPR Anytime is a self-directed learning program that provides a flexible, research-proven alternative to the traditional classroom style Family & Friends CPR course. It allows students to learn adult and child CPR skills individually or in large group settings, and at their own pace. The core skills of CPR are taught utilizing a 22 minute DVD, and a personal manikin (Mini Anne™). The AHA strongly promotes knowledge and proficiency in BLS and has developed instructional materials for this purpose. Use of these materials in an educational course does not represent course sponsorship by the AHA, and any fees charged for such a course do not represent income to the Association. Kansas City First Aid is an Authorized Training Site of the American Heart Association.
